WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) has a history of more than 170 years. Today it is an international concern that produces a huge range of household goods. And in the 19th century, it all started with a small workshop for the repair of metal products. Throughout its long history, the company has undergone many transformations, changes, acquisitions.
Thanks to the energy, intuition and business acumen of the company’s management, by the beginning of the 20th century, the company became the world’s largest manufacturer and exporter of household metal products, mainly in the Jugendstil or Art Nouveau style, developed in the WMF art studio under the direction of Albert Mayer, sculptor and designer, who was director from 1884 to 1914.
