Wall lamp LE BÉNITIER, wrought iron by E.Brandt, lampshade in Daum glass, 1922
Edgar Brandt was the greatest metallurgist of his era. None of his contemporaries could compare with him either in aesthetic or technical perfection. His work is invariably highly respected. His strong point was the ability to combine traditional and progressive craft methods.
He was one of the first metallurgists to use acetylene welding of structural elements instead of riveting. At the same time, he understood the need for hand-finishing artistic products, seeking to combine art and industry.

After Edgar Brandt completed a commission for the Louvre for the railing of the Escalier Mollien staircase in 2014, his popularity with the public and influence in the arts and crafts community has grown. In turn, Brandt began to expand production and began to work closely with architects, the Daum Freres glassworks, marble and alabaster suppliers. Brandt has done a number of collaborations with Daum to develop lamps and chandeliers. It was one of the most sought after categories of goods of the time.
The joint work of the Edgar Brandt company and the art glass firm Daum in the twenties of the last century bear the imprint of the Art Deco style. These are compositions in which both glass and metal play an important role, constituting a single harmonious composition.
