The beauty of Venetian glass in the works of Lino Tagliapietra

Today Lino Tagliapietra is considered one of the best glassblowers. All his glass working techniques are replicated by masters all over the world – he not only creates, but also teaches how to work with glass. Recognition of his merits in this field is the degree of Doctor of Fine Arts.
In 1979, he visited the US and worked for several years at the most popular Pilchuk Glassblowing School in Seattle. It was thanks to his work at this school that a vast movement of glassblowers was born in the USA (whereas on his home island of Murano the workshops are closing – in 1990 there were 5,000 master glassblowers on the island, and in 2018, less than 1,000).

However, since 1990, Tagliapietra decided to work independently – he only creates what he wants. All his works are sold out instantly and exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world.
In 2018, an international conference of glassblowers was held on the island of Murano under the leadership of Lino Tagliapietra.
