Stephanie Kilgast: transforming trash into art

The problem of environmental pollution is of great concern to the public. People all over the world strive to minimize damage to the environment. Everyone does their own thing: they sort garbage every day in order to send it for recycling; refuse to use materials that take a long time to decompose. And artists make their contribution to preserving the environment. One of them is the French sculptor Stephanie Kilgast. With her talented hands, the girl transforms garbage into works of art and makes original compositions based on empty cans.

Stephanie has German roots, was born in Germany, but considers herself French, and has been working in Paris for many years. Stephanie Kilgast’s career began creating miniature, realistic food replicas. Cakes made from polymer clay are completely indistinguishable from the real thing. The only thing that gives it away is the size – they are so tiny that they fit in a baby’s hand. Her works were happily purchased by craftsmen involved in the manufacture of dollhouses.

Stephanie Kilgast is a true artist; she constantly wants variety, something she hasn’t tried before, and discover new creative horizons. In 2017, she came up with the idea to create several compositions using waste: unnecessary plastic and cans. The only thing that has remained unchanged is my passion for polymer clay. It is with her help that she strives to transform the world, make it more rosy and optimistic.
You want to look at these compositions, look for some secret meaning in them, and, of course, admire the skill of sculpting – the corals, insects and mushrooms created by Stephanie Kilgast look so realistic.

The artist posted a manifesto on her personal website. In it, she tried to explain to her fans why she switched to a different direction in art. “My sculptures are a vibrant swirl of evolutionary diversity on earth, a dialogue between people and the world around them.” Stephanie strives to strike a balance between nature and the desire to innovate in her life. She calls for doing this as intelligently as possible, and not contributing to the onset of an environmental disaster. Agree that such a philosophy of life is worthy of respect.
