Gil Bruvel – French artist and sculptor

Gil Bruvel is a French artist and sculptor, born in 1959. Gil spent the first four years of his life in Sydney, Australia. Then his family moved to the small village of Istres in the south of France. At the age of 12, Gil painted his first oil painting, and from that moment on, painting became his life’s passion. From the age of 14, Bruvel began working part-time in a restoration workshop.

At the age of 16, his first exhibition was organized at the Musée des Baux-de-Provenance and was a great success. Soon after, seeking to expand his creative range, Bruvel became interested in the study of cosmogony, mythology, astronomy and Sanskrit.

The artist founded his studio in Saint-Rémy de Provence and worked there until 1986. Brunel’s first solo exhibition was held in 1976, after which he exhibited with great success throughout Western Europe, as well as in Japan, Singapore, Hungary and the USA. Bruvel first came to the United States with an exhibition in 1986, and moved there permanently in 1990.
