Jon Stuart Anderson – artist and sculptor

Jon Stuart Anderson is an artist and sculptor who was educated in Arizona and creates his sculptures from polymer clay (Fimo). Jon Stuart Anderson creates his works using the same method that ancient masters used to create their mosaics and drawings on stained glass. The artist applies the resulting drawings to pre-prepared stencils made in the form of animals. The result is very beautiful figurines that breathe something oriental.

Jon Stuart Anderson works on each of these figurines for a very long time, because the layer of Fimo applied to the figures is very thin, and each of the “tiles” is very small in diameter.

The animal figures themselves are created by hand from clay or cut out of wood, and the scarves are pressed into them with a finger (if you look closely at some of the pictures of the works, you can even see fingerprints on them). After this, they are given an hour to “cool down” and then, if gaps appear (while the work is not completely cool), the tiles are carefully moved with reed sticks.
The eyes for each figurine are also made by hand, and the old works are lightly polished, thanks to which they become surprisingly pleasant to the touch.

Each figurine is completely unique: the master never repeats the drawings.
