In fact, anthropomorphic cups and teapots are not intended to be used for their intended purpose. They are just sculptures – realistic, sensual, emotional, endowed with character. At the moments of their creation, Ronit does not think about the reaction of the future viewer. Ronit Baranga sculpts, listening to her own momentary mood.

Ronit Baranga: anthropomorphic pottery

Ronit Baranga, 46, is a psychologist by training. But 15 years ago, she realized that her main calling was art. And she entered a specialized college in the department of ceramics. Since then, the woman has not parted with clay and has created amazing things from it. It’s not just dishes with lips and tongues. The man-made collection of Ronit consists of countless funny, slightly sinister horned demons, ceramic babies with tattoos, porcelain fragments of human bodies and other amusing characters.

The artist works without sketches, but when creating human sculptures, live sitters pose for her.
The process of creating charmingly frightening ceramics lasts from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on the size and complexity of the figure. If the sculpture needs to be large, the woman sculpts and fires it piece by piece, then puts it together. This is how the statue “My Artemis” was created, 160 cm high (the height of the kiln chamber is 80 cm). Ronit skillfully paints a completely finished product with acrylic paints, breathing life into it.

In the art environment, the eccentric works of the psychologist-sculptor are perceived with a bang. The spectator audience is ambiguous: some are enthusiastic, others are frightened, others are thinking … But no one is indifferent. This gives Ronit Baranga, a participant in many international exhibitions, the strength and desire to create further.
