Paul Francois Luchet (1854-1936), French bronzer, engraver, sculptor, painter and engraver, was born in Paris. Paul Francois was a member of the circle of such famous masters of French Art Nouveau as Louis Majorelle, Jean Dom and Rene Lalique. His workshop was located at 3 rue Auber in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.
At the beginning of his career, Luchet was engaged in sculpture, bronze casting and engraving, and was president of the trade union chamber of bronze manufacturers. His foundry “Paris Louchet Ciseleur” produced small decorative items: vases, table sculpture; according to the models of both Luchet himself and the models of other sculptors.

Paul Luchet was active in politics and was even mayor of Paris in 1887. He strongly supported the campaign against the dumping of sewage from Paris into the plains of Acher, but lost the lawsuit. It was believed that the discharge of sewage caused an epidemic of typhoid fever, which claimed the life of his fifteen-year-old daughter.
