An He – Chinese artist

An He is a Chinese artist, born in Guangzhou in 1957. His parents were artists, and his father taught art history at Guangzhou University. He taught his son to paint from childhood. In fact, he became his first teacher. An He was educated at the Guangzhou Art College, one of the best educational institutions in China, one of the highest academic institutions in China.
While still a student, the board of the Supreme National Union of Professional Artists invited An He to become a member of the China Artists Association, thus, at the age of 24, he became the youngest member of this organization at that time.

In 1985, he moved to the United States and settled in New York, but in 1988, An moved to San Francisco, where he bought his own house. He specializes in figurative painting. Thanks to his romantic paintings of women, he has become one of the most sought-after artists in the country. He usually “catches” his women in a moment of thoughtful contemplation, sometimes surrounding them in luxurious interiors, and sometimes in the garden.

Themes of ballet and musical instruments also found their place in his compositions. The plots of his romantic paintings always capture the viewer’s spirit with their timeless essence. The women in his works cannot be “tied” to any specific time period. His painting style is compared to the style of John Singer Sargent.

Due to this similarity, the artist attracts great attention to his work from other artists, as well as collectors and critics. An Hee’s works are in demand in the United States and abroad. Three of his paintings were purchased by the Chinese government and became exhibits of the permanent exhibition of the National Art Museum of China.
