Martin Jay Leighton is a professional Scottish artist, born on 28th January 1951 in Montrose. He has been inspired by a variety of subjects throughout his life, which he has translated into his paintings. He began painting at an early age and it has been a lifelong passion.

Leighton began experimenting with oil paints on canvas in the late 1970s, and these experiments have been formative for him. He enjoys creating portraits, figurative compositions and other art forms.
His work covers a wide range of genres, including landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, wildlife and, of course, portraits. Leighton particularly enjoys painting people and animals, creating vivid and realistic images.

Leighton has exhibited in many exhibitions, both locally and internationally, throughout his career. He has also worked on projects involving murals, mosaics and other art forms. Currently, the artist continues to create new works, delighting his fans and inspiring young artists around the world.
