The work Autumn by Nicolas Pussin is a kind of illustration of a story from the Book of Genesis. It depicts an evening mountainous landscape, which, according to Poussin’s idea, should represent the land of Canaan, known for its fertility. Under a dark cloudy sky, workers complete the harvest. In the foreground of the picture, Abraham and Lot carry away a huge bunch of grapes. So the artist wanted to tell the audience about the comfortable and well-fed existence of people without God. How an unrighteous life ends, he showed in the last canvas of the cycle.
