Donald Zolan: a happy childhood through the eyes of an American painter

Donald Zolan was born in 1937 in a family of hereditary painters. At 2 years old, the boy was better at using paints and a brush than with a fork and knife. At the age of five, watercolor drawing brought him victory in the competition, and then his career developed rapidly and successfully. As a teenager, the future world-famous portrait painter won a grant to study at the institute, and three years later he received a scholarship to the Academy of Fine Arts.
After the release, the young author drew the famous Santa Claus for Coca-Cola advertising. The success was enormous. He becomes a sought-after illustrator and collaborates with many publishing houses and workshops. It is incredible that fame has not taken away the ability to notice such important details as admiration in the eyes, an embarrassed smile, naive love, fear mixed with curiosity.

Donald Zolan was able to convey the most valuable scenes of a carefree early age, when every child is: a researcher, a discoverer, a little why. There are so many interesting things in the world! Butterflies, ducklings, kittens! What about friends? Brothers and sisters? Falling in love with the girl next door? The painter was inspired by “an amazing time when every new discovery is a magical moment.”

The popularity of the master’s work has not faded over the years. The public buys reproductions and posters with a bang, canvases with an outline for coloring also sell well. This confirms that kindness and sincerity will be relevant at all times.
