Alfred Zimmermann
Alfred Zimmermann is one of the most famous gem carvers from Idar-Oberstein (Germany). Since school years, drawing has been Zimmerman’s favorite hobby. He began his career at the Dreers workshop, a well-known family of hereditary stone cutters. The workshop of Gerd Dreher is famous for its stone-cutting works, which were carried out more than a hundred years ago for such famous jewelry houses as Cartier and Faberge. In the works of students of this workshop, there are often figures of Russian peasants made using the technique of three-dimensional mosaics. It was these figurines that were once made by order of Faberge. The figurine of a Russian peasant woman by Alfred Zimmermann was created during the period of work with Gerd Dreher.
