Alex V Dolgikh – a contemporary Russian artist

Alex V Dolgikh is a contemporary Russian artist. He entered the N.S. Samokish Art School in Simferopol, where he began his creative path. He later completed his studies at the Academy of Arts in Kyiv, and then returned to his hometown in 1992. Upon returning to his hometown, he became a set designer at the Gorky Crimean Academic Russian Drama Theatre. Dolgikh delved into various drawing and painting techniques, paying special attention to the depiction of the human figure. His deep fascination with ancient history, mythology, legends and fairy tales is a constant theme in his works.

Drawing on a solid academic foundation and professional training in art materials and technologies, Dolgikh has developed a unique method that allows him to seamlessly blend oil and acrylic paints into a single work of art. This approach, inspired by Frans Hals’ practice of combining oils with watercolours, was refined and experimented with by Dolgikh. In 1996, he received significant international recognition after his major debut at ArtExpo in Barcelona. Subsequently, having moved to Prague, his artworks were exhibited in cities such as Dublin, London and Melbourne. Since 2005, Alexander’s work has been permanently exhibited at the Gallery of European Contemporary Art in Prague. Notably, Graham Fine Art is proud to represent Alexander Dolgikh’s work exclusively in the UK.
