Painting Walk by Auguste Renoir

The Walk is a painting created by the outstanding secular portrait painter Auguste Renoir. The plot presented on the canvas is unpretentious – a gallant couple walks in the fresh air.
The painting “Walk” by Auguste Renoir is an example of fleeting happiness
The picturesque scene is imbued with a sensually joyful atmosphere and musical flavor. In the foreground is a full-length lady dressed in a magnificent dress. At some distance from her is a young man in an elegant suit and hat. His figure is slightly hidden in the shade of the trees, his face is darkened.
The obstacle that arose in the way of the lady allowed the hero to take care of his companion. The gentleman gives the beauty a hand, thereby helping to step over an object invisible to the viewer. The action takes place on a summer day in a shady part of the park among the lush greenery of shrubs and trees.
The work is drawn with short strokes, which made it possible to consider small details: the face of the heroine, the folds of clothes, the texture of vegetation. Proper use of chiaroscuro, tone contrasts allowed the author to create volume and dynamics. The work successfully combines a wide range of green shades and pale purple with a hint of blueness.

Auguste Renoir – a brilliant French painter who worked at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries
The artist did not like heroic and dramatic subjects. He sang of ordinary life with its modest beauty and until the end of his days remained an incorrigible admirer of sunlight and human happiness.
The chosen one of the French writer, musician and passionate collector Edmond Maitre acted as a female model. Until 1989, the work was kept by private individuals, then it was bought by the Getty Museum at a public auction. The cost of the masterpiece was 17.7 million dollars. At that time it was the most expensive creation of the master.
The painting “Walk” by Auguste Renoir still attracts the attention of the public. The audience is happy to look at the work, where a touching fleeting event unfolds.
