JACOPO TINTORETTO Self-portrait
The Italian late Renaissance painter Jacopo Tintoretto was a student of the great Titian. “Self-portrait”, written by a seventy-year-old artist, makes a deep impression. The range of colors is practically reduced to monochrome, which increases the strength of its psychological impact on the viewer.
From the impenetrable darkness of the conditional background, the face of a tired and exhausted old man, framed by a gray beard, emerges. It speaks of the experiences, disappointments and bitter reflections of a person who has lived a long life, full of worries and labors. The deep, wise eyes of the artist are turned to the viewer, who cannot resist their magnetism and tries to penetrate the mystery, the very essence of the hero’s soul.
