Iosif Krachkovsky was a brilliant master. A temperamental and inspired creator, he literally “lived” each of his landscapes. I let its metaphysical essence pass through my own soul. And endowed it with particles even the smallest elements of the landscape. For which he was sincerely and passionately loved by the audience.

Throughout his creative life, he treated wildlife as a temple erected by God. I saw the task of the artist in not sinning in anything against the absolute design, only conveying to the viewer his own delight from meetings with beautiful landscapes.

Iosif Evstafievich painted magnificent pictures not because he was capable of it, but because he simply could not do otherwise. The lessons of Mikhail Klodt and an internship in Munich, the influence of the Parisian rebels and fellow Wanderers, the historical background of his career in the form of a breakdown of the old and the beginning of a new school of Russian landscape – all this undoubtedly formed and modified the pictorial concepts. But the essence of the work of the artist Krachkovsky has always been the same: to leave all of himself on the other side of the canvas in order to awaken the kindest and brightest feelings of the audience.
