Artist Francesco Bergamini

Francesco Bergamini (born November 27, 1815 in Bologna) is an Italian artist of genre painting. In adulthood, he took part in the war for the unification of the country.

The artist was born into the family of an Italian mason Pietro Bergamini. Francesco began painting and selling his paintings as early as 1833. His paintings include: “Reading Choral Notes”, “Stubborn Donkey”, “Preparing for the Feast”, “Lesson”, “School Class” and others.

In 1849, Francesco’s mother died. After the uprising of 1853, Bergamini had to flee to Turin, where he lived until the end of his life.

In 1859-1860, Francesco took part in the second Italian-Austrian war for the unification of Italy. During the war, Francesco fell ill with a fever, so he painted less in the following years. The artist died on April 8, 1883.
