Anna-Maria Bilinska-Bogdanowicz is a Polish artist
One of the most outstanding Polish artists of the 19th century.

She was born into a family of a Polish doctor in Ukraine, where she spent her childhood.
She studied in Poland, attended the conservatory, then in Paris, where she attended the Académie Julian.
Bilińska’s paintings were exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London (1889). At the World Exhibition in Paris (1889) she was awarded a silver medal (for Self-portrait). In 1891, at the International Art Exhibition in Berlin, the artist won a small gold medal.

In 1892, Anna Bilińska married doctor Anton Bohdanowicz. She returned to Warsaw with her husband to open a school for women who aspired to become artists.
On April 18, 1893, Anna died of illness.

Anna was married for only a few months. She was buried in the old cemetery in Powązki.
She was only 38 years old.

Her husband later published a book entitled “Anna Bilińska: a woman, a Pole and an artist in the light of her diary and reviews of the world press.” He is buried next to his wife.
